As promised, here is the recipe for the second option of a fruity dog friendly ice cream. Again, banana is the star of this recipe, as it provides the appropriate texture for a more creamy mixture. You can use any fruit you have, you can also add some supplements to add some nutritional value (for example, my dogs are crazy about salmon oil).
Step 1: Freeze banana(s)
Peel the bananas, cut them in smaller pieces and freeze them for a couple hours. This is a crucial step to make it easier to blend in the next step. I decided to use bananas and frozen blueberries, but again, you can use any fruit you have at home.
Step 2: Blend the fruits
Make sure that your blender has the option to break ice cubes – if it doesn´t, you can use food processor. It might take some time to blend, but in the end you will get a smooth mixture like this:
Step 3: Put the mixture in moulds and freeze
Again, I put the mixture into moulds, because it is easier to make small portions that I can give to my dogs. You can also put it into an ice cream container (reusing plastic as well*). You can eat it as it is, or you can freeze it for a bit longer. In the end, texture should be similar to “normal” ice cream that you can scoop.
